Dr Arjun Rao
Dr Arjun Rao is one of Perth’s most highly respected physicians in Sports Medicine, renowned for treating many conditions across an array of patients including high-performance/elite athletes to osteoarthritis sufferers.
In 1998, he founded Specialist Sportscare W.A. with one thing in mind:
“To provide quality, multi-disciplinary care to people suffering pain and loss of function due to injury or wear and tear”
Dr Rao specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries (sporting, motor vehicle and work-related) including knee, shoulder, spinal and ankle disorders. He has a particular interest in osteoarthritis, tendinopathy (often know as “tendinitis”) as well as podiatric problems. His goal is to provide the highest quality medical care from diagnosis to recovery.
His qualifications include Fellowship of the Australasian College of Sports Physicians and the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians of London and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK.
His current positions include, Medical Director of Specialist Sportscare W.A., Medical Director of the Perth Glory Football Club,Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for Football West and Chairman of the CMO’s for Football Federation Australia. He also sits on the FIFA/AFC Elite Regional Panel of Medical and Doping Control Officers.
In 2012, he was appointed as part of the LOCOG specialist medical team responsible for the coverage of all major sporting events at the London Olympic Games.
Dr Rao is also a WAIS Preferred Sports Medicine Provider and Approved Medical Specialist for WorkCover WA.
